When you are visiting Sidmouth and staying at The Old Farmhouse, there are plenty of things to do. We have safe, pebble and sandy beaches to explore or to just sit and watch the world go by. You can enjoy the variety of individual shops, cafes and restaurants of Sidmouth, far away from the city high streets. Take a stroll along the Esplanade before finding a tearoom to enjoy a cake or an ice-cream. Sit a while in the beautiful Connaught Gardens admiring the splendid views out to sea. Or, for an evening’s entertainment, you can relax with coffee in either of the Old Farmhouse’s lounges, or visit the town’s theatre, the Manor Pavilion or our unique Radway Cinema, to take in a show or a film.

Further afield

If you can drag yourselves away from Sidmouth, there is the magnificent Jurassic coastline to explore and all that the surrounding East Devon countryside has to offer. Close by is the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary, home to over 3000 rescued donkies; Seaton Jurassic, which tells the story of the Jurassic coast, 185 million years of history; Bicton Gardens, where you can enjoy a train ride through the beautifully manicured gardens. Further afield is Dartmoor, a great day out for walkers and finally, Exeter, where you can marvel at the architecture of the fifteenth century cathedral. There are lots of interesting places to visit in East Devon.

Below are just a few ideas for days out, during a stay at the Old Farmhouse, Sidmouth.
